Top Indian executives from Apple, Google, Amazon, Netflix and Microsoft in India will appear before a parliamentary committee on Tuesday. These companies have been given notices by the Lok Sabha Secretariat to investigate anti-competitive activities in the digital sector. Let us tell you that recently there were complaints about the lack of coordination between various technology platforms and firms. Since then, various aspects of the competition are being investigated in this case.
In fact, a Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance has been formed to look into the matter. This committee is probing various aspects of competition in the tech market and anti-competition activities in the digital sector. Committee chairman Jayant Sinha has given this information on Monday. Sinha said that top executives of the Indian units of Apple, Google, Amazon, Netflix and Microsoft have been issued notices to appear before this parliamentary committee on Tuesday.
According to this notice, the agenda of this meeting is to obtain information about oral evidence of big tech companies on the subject of anti-competitive practices by big tech companies. Singha said the committee has already discussed the issue with Competition Commission of India (CCI), Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Indian tech firms.
